Gestational Surrogates: Medical Screening

Thank you for choosing Simple Surrogacy as your Surrogacy agency! We are excited to help you welcome a new bundle of joy into your life. One of the most important steps in the Surrogacy journey is selecting your Surrogate! This step is important because they will be the one carrying your child throughout the process. At Simple Surrogacy, we only choose the best possible Surrogates for our Intended Parents. This includes their medical health. This blog will look at some of the steps in the medical screening process that we require our Surrogates to pass before they join our roster.

The American Society for Reproductive Medicine Guidelines

All of our Gestational Surrogates are carefully screened first by looking at their medical records from previous deliveries, having their background checked, and having a psychological evaluation. After they pass the internal Agency screening and are selected for a match, they will then be screened in person by a clinic of your choice using the strict guidelines provided by The American Society for Reproductive Medicine. This screening at your clinic will include a detailed medical history of the potential Surrogate, a physical exam, comprehensive laboratory testing, as well as a physical screening. The potential Surrogate may then be required to undergo multi-disciplinary consultations with internists and specialists, psychologists for a MMPI, and possibly
geneticists.
